Frequently Asked Questions
How does Keeply find duplicate photos on iPhone?
Keeply scans your entire photo library and uses on-device image analysis to find exact duplicates and visually similar photos. Results are grouped so you can review them side by side before taking any action.
Does Keeply delete photos automatically?
No. Keeply never deletes anything automatically. You review every group and confirm which items to remove. Deleted items go to the "Recently Deleted" album in Photos, where you can recover them for up to 30 days.
How do I compress videos on iPhone with Keeply?
Keeply re-encodes your videos on-device using Apple Silicon. You choose from three quality levels (Ultra-High, High, or Medium) and can preview the result before saving. The original video is kept unless you choose to delete it.
Does Keeply reduce video quality when compressing?
Keeply uses smart encoding that analyzes each frame of your video. It identifies areas with rich detail and fast motion and gives them more data to stay sharp, while simpler, less noticeable areas use less data. This means the file gets significantly smaller without touching the parts your eyes actually focus on. Ultra-High quality is visually lossless for most videos, and even High and Medium look great in everyday viewing. Audio is never re-encoded — all audio tracks, including spatial audio, are copied over bit-for-bit so your sound stays exactly as recorded. You can always preview the compressed result before saving to judge for yourself.
Can Keeply compress HDR and Dolby Vision videos?
Yes. Keeply can compress HDR and Dolby Vision videos while preserving their dynamic range metadata.
Does Keeply work with iCloud Photos?
Yes. Keeply can scan and compress videos stored in iCloud. The video is downloaded temporarily for processing and the compressed version is saved back to your library.
How much iCloud storage can Keeply save me?
It depends on how many videos you have, but the savings can be substantial. Videos are often the biggest space hog in iCloud — it's common for them to take up hundreds of gigabytes. Compressing your videos with Keeply can free up a significant chunk of your iCloud storage, which may let you downgrade to a cheaper iCloud+ plan:
| Before | After Compression | Monthly Savings | Yearly Savings |
|---|---|---|---|
| 200 GB ($2.99/mo) | 50 GB ($0.99/mo) | $2.00 | $24.00 |
| 2 TB ($9.99/mo) | 200 GB ($2.99/mo) | $7.00 | $84.00 |
| 6 TB ($29.99/mo) | 2 TB ($9.99/mo) | $20.00 | $240.00 |
| 12 TB ($59.99/mo) | 6 TB ($29.99/mo) | $30.00 | $360.00 |
Keeply Pro is a one-time $19.99 purchase — it can pay for itself in just a few months of iCloud savings.
Can Keeply help me avoid buying a bigger iPhone?
Yes. If you don't use iCloud and store everything on your iPhone, videos are usually what fills up your storage fastest. Compressing them with Keeply can free up enough space that you don't need the next storage tier when you buy a new iPhone. Here's how much each upgrade costs:
| Instead of... | You could choose... | You save |
|---|---|---|
| 256 GB iPhone | 128 GB iPhone | $100 – $200 |
| 512 GB iPhone | 256 GB iPhone | $200 |
| 1 TB iPhone | 512 GB iPhone | $200 |
| 2 TB iPhone | 1 TB iPhone | $400 |
Keeply Pro is $19.99 — a fraction of the $200–$400 you'd spend on a storage upgrade.
What is Keeply Pro and how much does it cost?
Keeply Pro is a one-time purchase ($19.99) that unlocks the ability to delete duplicates and save compressed videos. The free version lets you scan, review, and preview everything — Pro lets you act on it.
Can I restore Keeply Pro on a new iPhone?
Yes. Open Keeply on your new device and go to Settings. Your purchase will be restored automatically through the App Store as long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID.
Is Keeply safe? Does it upload my photos?
All scanning and compression happens entirely on your device. No photos or videos are ever uploaded to any server. There's no account and no cloud processing. We collect only anonymous crash diagnostics to improve app stability — never your photos, videos, or personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Why does Keeply need full photo library access?
To find all duplicates across your entire library, Keeply needs access to all photos and videos. Limited access would mean duplicates outside the selected photos could be missed. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings.
How does Keeply compare to CleanUp for finding duplicates?
Keeply uses semantic matching to find photos that are similar in meaning — even when the photos look visually different. CleanUp misses these semantically similar photos. For similar videos, CleanUp sometimes groups unrelated videos together, while Keeply's similar-video matching is precise and only groups truly related videos.
How does Keeply's video compression compare to CleanUp?
Keeply uses smart compression that analyzes each frame and allocates bitrate where it matters most. CleanUp uses fixed compression ratios. On the same 23 MB 4K Dolby Vision video, Keeply's high-quality setting produces an 11.4 MB file versus CleanUp's 19.1 MB — smaller file, better quality. At medium quality, Keeply produces 7.8 MB versus CleanUp's 12.3 MB. CleanUp's compressed video shows visible chroma noise and blurred textures (e.g. fur), while Keeply stays visually lossless. CleanUp also loses Dolby Vision, HDR metadata, and spatial audio after compression — Keeply preserves all of them. Additionally, Keeply can compress videos stored in iCloud; CleanUp cannot.
